Overview

1. Day 1Where Heritage Meets the River

   Arrive at Ahmedabad, where you will be warmly received and transferred to your hotel. After check-in and some time to freshen up, begin your exploration of the city with a visit to Sabarmati Ashram, situated peacefully on the banks of the Sabarmati River. Once the residence and centre of activities of Mahatma Gandhi, the ashram offers an insight into his philosophy of simplicity, truth and non-violence. The serene surroundings and preserved historic spaces make it an important landmark of Ahmedabad.

   Continue towards Adalaj Ni Vav, one of Gujarat’s most remarkable stepwells. Built in the 15th century, this intricately carved architectural marvel descends several levels below the ground and showcases exquisite craftsmanship through its pillars, arches and ornamental motifs. Beyond its architectural beauty, the stepwell reflects the ingenuity of traditional water-management systems.

   Proceed to Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar, an imposing centre of spirituality and culture dedicated to Bhagwan Swaminarayan. The beautifully carved temple complex, landscaped gardens and peaceful atmosphere create a memorable spiritual experience.

   Later, return towards Ahmedabad and visit the Sabarmati Riverfront, one of the city's most prominent urban landmarks. Stroll along the beautifully developed riverfront and enjoy the evening atmosphere beside the Sabarmati River.

   Return to the hotel for overnight stay in Ahmedabad.

2. Day 2Along the Sacred Trail to the Western Coast

   After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed towards Dwarka, one of the most revered pilgrimage destinations in India and one of the sacred Char Dham sites.

   The journey takes you across the landscapes of Saurashtra towards the Arabian Sea. Upon arrival in Dwarka, check in to your hotel and relax.

   Later, proceed for darshan at the Dwarkadhish Temple, the principal spiritual landmark of Dwarka. Dedicated to Lord Krishna, the temple is traditionally associated with the ancient city of Dwarka established by Krishna. Its towering shikhara and deeply devotional atmosphere make it one of Gujarat's most significant pilgrimage sites.

   After darshan, visit Gomati Ghat, located beside the Gomati River where it meets the Arabian Sea. The ghat is an important pilgrimage spot and offers a peaceful setting for devotees to spend time beside the sacred waters.

   Return to the hotel and relax after the day's journey and sightseeing.

3. Day 3Following the Footsteps of Krishna

   Dwarka – Bet Dwarka – Nageshwar – Somnath

   After breakfast, check out and begin your sacred journey through the important religious sites surrounding Dwarka.

   Begin with a visit to Rukmini Devi Temple, dedicated to Rukmini, the consort of Lord Krishna. The temple is known for its beautifully carved exterior featuring intricate sculptures and traditional architectural details. Its comparatively serene surroundings offer a peaceful devotional experience.

   Continue towards Bet Dwarka, traditionally regarded as the residence of Lord Krishna and an important pilgrimage destination associated with his life. The journey to Bet Dwarka is now convenient via the Sudarshan Setu Bridge, India's first cable-stayed bridge over the sea, connecting Okha with Bet Dwarka. The bridge itself offers impressive views of the surrounding waters.

   Proceed to Nageshwar Jyotirling, one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple complex is known for its imposing Shiva statue and peaceful spiritual atmosphere. Devotees visit Nageshwar seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva and to complete an important part of the Dwarka–Somnath pilgrimage circuit.

   Continue towards Somnath, travelling through the scenic landscapes of the Saurashtra region. Upon arrival, visit Bhalka Tirth, a sacred site traditionally associated with the final earthly moments of Lord Krishna. According to tradition, it was here that Krishna was struck by an arrow while resting beneath a tree.

   Later, visit Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Hiran, Kapila and Saraswati rivers. The peaceful surroundings beside the Arabian Sea make it an important place of pilgrimage and contemplation.

   Check in to your hotel and relax.

4. Day 4From Sacred Shores to the Wilderness

   Begin the morning with darshan at the magnificent Somnath Jyotirling Temple, one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Standing beside the Arabian Sea, the temple has been rebuilt several times throughout history and today stands as one of India's most prominent pilgrimage landmarks. The temple's location, facing the vast sea, creates a particularly striking spiritual atmosphere.

   After darshan, visit Baan Ganga, a sacred spot associated with the legends of Lord Krishna. The site adds another layer of mythology and spirituality to the Somnath pilgrimage.

   Later, check out and proceed towards Gir, home to the renowned Asiatic lion. On arrival, proceed for an afternoon Gir Jungle Safari, subject to safari availability and the applicable forest regulations. The safari offers an opportunity to explore the natural habitat of the Asiatic lion and observe the diverse flora and fauna of the Gir landscape.

   After the safari, proceed to your hotel and check in. Spend the evening at leisure and relax amidst the peaceful surroundings of the forest region.

5. Day 5A Journey to Home

   After breakfast, check out from the hotel and begin your return journey towards Ahmedabad.

   Travel through the changing landscapes of Gujarat, carrying with you memories of the sacred temples of Dwarka and Somnath, the architectural heritage of Ahmedabad and the wilderness of Gir.

   Upon reaching Ahmedabad, you will be dropped at the railway station as per your onward travel schedule, bringing this memorable Gujarat pilgrimage and wildlife journey to a close.
